The most important part of maintaining your heat exchanger is regular cleaning. A consistent cleaning schedule keeps your equipment in good condition, while avoiding down time and allowing for optimal productivity.
XChanger Mechanical often uses immersion chemical cleaning to restore straight tube heat exchangers, plate heat exchangers, u-tube heat exchangers, lube oil coolers, and hydrogen coolers.
Since immersion cleaning is our specialty, while also being the most cost-effective method, it is usually our first choice. However, there are some parts that are easily damaged by the chemicals used in our cleaning vats, particularly aluminum fins. These always require an alternative method, usually coil cleaning, for appropriate restoration.
Before the cleaning process begins, a visual inspection is done to determine the level of cleaning necessary, and the best process to perform the cleaning. This information is included in our receiving and inspection reports, keeping our process information transparent to our customers.
To prepare the heat exchangers for immersion cleaning, they are often pressure washed with hot water to loosen visible debris.
The primary cleaning process begins by heating the water, along with our proprietary biodegradable cleansing agent, in large vats here in our warehouse. An agitator is also used to swish the heated solution against the submersed equipment, loosening and removing dirt, grime, and oil from its surface.
The parts are left in the cleaning vat (aka, jacuzzi) for the length of time it takes to restore their condition. Immersion cleaning works best when it is not a rushed process.
Once removed from the cleaning vat, the heat exchangers receive a hot water pressure wash to remove remaining particles and chemicals. If necessary, a mechanical cleaning is performed using a water flushing process via PGX to remove scale or other buildup in the tubes.
As a normal procedure, a project report is prepared, including before and after pictures, so that our customers know what processes were used in the restoration of their parts. Visual documents – like the one below – are proof that our methods work!
XChanger Mechanical is proud of the proprietary cleaning process we have developed over the years, along with our exclusive use of biodegradable cleansing products.
